In a nutshell a fertility educator teaches reproductive anatomy, the mechanisms behind the menstrual cycle and all of the events that take place each cycle.
If you take a Fertility Awareness course you can expect to learn:
Reproductive anatomy
The difference between your period and your menstrual cycle
What a healthy cycle looks like
What clues your period flow holds
When the brain and ovaries begin to communicate
When the follicles in the ovary begin to grow
The opening of the fertile window
Approximately when ovulation takes place
The closing of the fertile window
How to observe progesterone levels after ovulation
How to look out for menstrual irregularities

One of the most import things about learning Fertility Awareness is that you gain body literacy, which is an understanding of the body! Why is this important? Well, for one, at each phase of the menstrual cycle, different hormones are 'dominant' this can impact how we feel. When we have an awareness that our current mood is directly impacted by hormones it helps us to develop a kinder relationship with ourselves. And secondly it helps us with informed choice - imagine you wanted a form of birth control, that did not contain any synthetic hormones, well through learning fertility awareness, you will be able to establish which times in your cycle that you are fertile and which times you are not, this can be used an effective method of birth control.
