About me
Hello! My name is Áilish, I am a student Naturopath and a FEMM certified Fertility Educator.
I am truly passionate about women's health and my goal is to help women understand what is going on in the body. I think this passion comes from my own experience. As a teenager I presented to my doctor with painful, irregular, heavy periods. I was prescribed the pill and sent on my way. After months and months of trying both combination oral contraceptives and the mini pill, I still had mood swings, slight weight gain and I had visible signs of a hormone imbalance. It wasn't until years later that I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).
It took me a few years to make the decision to come off all medication and when I did, I began working to heal my body using food, supplements and lifestyle changes. I incorporated more meditation and exercise which helped for both PCOS and stress management. After roughly 4 months on this journey I began to notice some positive changes, my PCOS symptoms were becoming less problematic in my life.
It was through my own positive experience I then decided to study at College of Naturopathic Medicine, Dublin Ireland to become a Nutritional Therapist and a Naturopath. While studying Naturopathy, I came across the Fertility Awareness Method (FAM). I couldn't believe I went through my life without the body literacy I gained by learning FAM, so I made the decision to study the fertility awareness method with FEMM (Fertility Education Medical Management). I absolutely love fertility awareness, to me, it is much more than fertility awareness, it is body literacy, it is an insight into what is going on with overall health.
